A most degorous goblin shark

Fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico were shocked when they hauled a shrimp net up to discover they had caught a rare, and slightly terrifying, Goblin shark.
The mysterious sharks can live at depths of more than 1,300 metres.
On April 19, shrimp boat captain Carl Moore and his crew had set nets off the western shore of Key West, Fla., in search of Royal Red shrimp. When the net made it to the surface, however, the fishermen realized they had wrangled a Goblin shark.
Goblin sharks are most commonly found as bycatch in fishing nets in deep-water canyons around the coast of Japan. This is only the second known instance of a Goblin shark turning up in fishing nets in the Gulf of Mexico. The first was in 2002. (Carl Moore/NOAA)
Goblin sharks are a rare and largely mysterious shark species that can live at depths of more than 1,300 metres, often near the steep drop-offs of continental shelves and within deep-water canyons. Most sightings have been by Japanese crews fishing in the cold, deep waters in and around the islands of Japan.
In 2003, after a large deep sea earthquake rattled the ocean floor near Taiwan, more than 100 Goblin sharks were pulled from the depths by fishermen in just a few days.
Moore's catch, which he estimated to be about 5.5 metres in length, is only the second Goblin shark to be recorded in the Gulf of Mexico. The first was more than 10 years ago, and was so unexpected that a scientific paper was published chronicling the find.
Moore immediately released the shark after freeing it from the net and reported the catch to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) last week after returning to shore from a weeks-long fishing expedition.
"I didn't even know what it was. I didn't get the tape measure out because that thing's got some wicked teeth — they could do some damage," Moore told the Houston Chronicle, the newspaper that first reported on the unusual catch.
The NOAA released a statement on its Facebook page last week saying that fisheries biologists are working with Moore to get as much information as possible about the specimen caught in April.

While the film is yet to be named, we hear Akshay’s next with Neeraj will be on the lines of Hollywood political thriller Argo which was directed by Ben Affleck. While talking to a leading tabloid, a source said, “Getting inspired by various Hollywood films is not new to Bollywood. The latest one to join this bandwagon is Neeraj Pandey, whose next film with Akshay Kumar is apparently based on Ben Affleck’s Academy Award winning film, ‘Argo’.” Sounds interesting, hai na?
AK has already started working on the film which will release in early 2015. While Ben Affleck’sArgo won the Oscar last year, will Akshay’s flick manage to woo the audience? Will it walk away with the National award? Only time will tell but we certainly can’t wait to see what the Khiladi of Bollywood has got in store for us!

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most loved stars in Bollywood. It’s no surprise then that almost two decades back when Big B was hospitalised for a stomach injury on the sets of his cult movie Coolie, (26th July 1982) the whole nation came to a halt praying for his quick recovery and well-being. Even today every Sunday outside the Bachchan house in Jalsa, the sight is heartwarming as fans gather in huge numbers to get a glance of their favourite superstar. So then the news of Amitabh suffering from intestinal ailment that could be cancerous came as a shocker to us. According to tellychakkar.com Big B is suffering from cancer. The website reported, “Big B is taking medical treatment for the Big C which somehow seems to have made its way into his colon or intestine.” This site also had statements from a well placed source in Bachchan’s hospital and his treating doctor Jayan S Barve’s (father of designer Nachiket Barve) comments. The source said, “Amitabh comes calling at least once every month and his reports suggest that he is suffering from an intestinal ailment that could be cancerous.” While Dr Barve wasn’t the one to reveal much details, he said, “Who says this? You should check with Mr Bachchan about it.”
Well, we hope that Bachchan Sr is hale and hearty and continues to entertain us for many years to come. As for the reports about early stages of cancer, we’re sure that this Shehanshah will battle and emerge victorous. - In the retrial, the eye witnesses have identified the actor
- As per the latest report on Times Now, the witnesses has identified Salman Khan in hit-and-run case, told the court that drunk actor was behind the wheel. The actor was identified by two witnesses as having exited the car from the driver’s side in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The witness further added that Salman was so drunk that he fell down, he then got up and ran away.
- This morning, Salman Khan appeared in Sessions Court, Bandra in jeans and blue striped shirt for the retrial of his 2002 hit-and-run-case. Salman was accompanied with his sisters -Alvira and Arpita for the retrial. Eyewitnesses are expected to depose before the court and may be asked to identify Mr Khan as the person who was driving the car during the incident.
- On December 5, 2013, the court ordered a fresh trial after the charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder were added. Earlier the Being Human actor was tried for causing death by negligence. If the actor gets convicted, he may have to spend 10 years in the prison. The retrial procedure commenced on April 28 with the partial deposition of one witness.
- The incident took place in September 2002 when Sallu was allegedly driving a Toyota Land Cruiser that ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra. Out of the five people, one was killed and the other four were injured in the accident.
